Palm Springs, CA

Just before 8:30 AM on Thursday, January 5th a 26 year-old male on a skateboard was hit by a car, that failed to stop. It happened on El Cielo Rd. in front of the Palm Springs Access Center.

The skateboarder, who was on his cell phone, was traveling against traffic northbound on El Cielo, when the driver of a 2011-2012, white Ford Fusion hit the skateboarder and continued to travel southbound. The car was last seen turning westbound on E Baristo Rd.

The skateboarder pictured in the below image suffered major injuries to his arm and leg and was take to a local hospital.


PSPD is currently looking for the driver of the white, 4-door Ford Fusion. It has a sunroof, chrome rims and rear tinted windows. There is damage to the passenger side headlight, front fender, and the is mirror is missing.

The Palm Springs Police Department is asking anyone who might have been a witness to this collision or who might have any whereabouts of the driver of the vehicle involved, to contact the PSPD Traffic Division, at 760-323-8125.
