“There is no place like Palm Springs to celebrate the holidays, or simply cherish the winter solstice. This week, I enjoyed lunch outdoors with a visiting roadrunner, desert shrubs, Smoke Trees, wildflowers and breathtaking views of the San Jacinto Mountains. It provided an opportunity for reflection and acknowledgement of the land we live and work on today is the original homelands of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians who have stewarded this land throughout the generations and continue to steward this land for all future generations.
This time of year, offers a unique opportunity for gratitude and renewal and I find myself reflecting on enduring power of hope and the importance of standing firm in our faith, even in the face of darkness.
Messages of peace and goodwill towards all, call upon us to extend compassion and kindness to our neighbors. The spirit of giving, of sharing our blessings with those less fortunate, is a timeless reminder of our interconnectedness.
I invite you to join me in 2025 and strive to embody these principles in our daily lives. Actively cultivate unity within our community, foster an atmosphere of understanding and respect for all. Let’s extend a helping hand to those in need, offering support and compassion to our fellow residents. During the challenging times ahead, I urge everyone to embrace civility, respect, and understanding.
Palm Springs is a vibrant and diverse home to many cultures and backgrounds. Let us celebrate our differences while embracing our shared humanity. Let us work together to build a community that honors everyone, and everyone feels valued, respected, and included.
I am honored to be a part of this transformational time in the City’s history and to serve as the 27th Mayor of Palm Springs. I wish you and your loved ones and chosen families a joyous and meaningful holiday season. May the coming year bring you peace, prosperity, and an abundance of blessings.
