In a landmark decision, the California Assembly has passed ACR 8, a resolution introduced by Assemblymember Greg Wallis, designating the second Saturday of January as World Desert Day in California. This initiative celebrates the state’s desert regions, highlighting their ecological importance and the communities that call them home.

California’s desert landscapes, such as the Mojave, Sonoran, and Colorado Deserts, offer breathtaking beauty and host some of the most unique ecosystems on Earth.
