Palm Springs, CA
The Palm Springs Air Museum is a treasure trove of American history and military aircraft. It is truly a world class museum in our Coachella Valley.
The aviation museum consists of five air-conditioned hangars (totaling 91,000 square feet) with over 75 aircraft and helicopters. And outside, behind the Museum buildings, even more aircraft are on display. The result is a trip through time — from the last 100 years to the modern generations of military aviation.
The well structured displays feature one of the world’s largest collections of static & flyable aircraft from WWII through to the War on Terror.
A knowledgeable and friendly group of volunteers — some 400 in all — help guests with directions and information about the aircraft.
The Museum is a repository of USA military history and it preserves, exhibits, and flies aircraft from World War Two, Korean War, Vietnam War and the Global War on Terror. Significantly, a good number of the aircraft in the Museum are in flyable condition. Many of the aircraft would easily qualify as works of art.
In addition to its permanent assembly of aircraft, the Museum will host the 2025 B-29 DOC History Restored Tour from April 29 through May 4. B-29 DOC is one of only two remaining airworthy B-29 Superfortresses in the world. For more information about this tour, go to: https://www.b29doc.com/rides/
As part of its comprehensive collection, the Museum operates a gift shop with a wide selection of aviation/military items, a 12,700 volume library and theatre that shows documentary films continuously throughout the day.
All hangars in the Museum are well ventilated with high ceilings and are easily accessible by wheelchair, walkers and scooters. A few wheelchairs are available for use within the facility for free.
