Palm Springs Announces Organic Mosquito Control Schedule for Summer 2025

Palm Springs, CA

The Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District has announced its summer mosquito control treatment schedule for the City of Palm Springs. In an effort to combat the seasonal surge in mosquito activity, the District will conduct a series of Wide Area Larvicide Spraying operations beginning this month.

The treatments are scheduled during early morning hours, from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m., on the following Saturdays:

Spraying will be carried out using truck-mounted equipment and will target mosquito larvae before they mature into biting adults.

The larvicide being used, VectoBac WDG, is certified by the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI). It contains Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (Bti), a naturally occurring bacterium that specifically targets mosquito larvae. Officials emphasize that VectoBac WDG is safe for humans, pets, wildlife, aquatic organisms, beneficial insects, and honeybees when applied as directed.

Residents are not required to take any special precautions during the treatment period, but those who wish to minimize exposure may choose to stay indoors and close windows while spraying is underway.
