Palm Springs Fix-it Fair Offers Free Repairs and a Second Life for Household Items

Palm Springs, CA

Got a broken toaster, wobbly chair, or torn jacket? Don’t toss it—fix it! The City of Palm Springs Sustainability Department invites residents to the Fix-it Fair on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Mizell Center, located at 480 S. Sunrise Way.

This free community event connects local residents with skilled volunteer fixers who will help repair small household items, electronics, clothing, and more—diverting usable goods from the landfill and promoting a culture of sustainability and reuse.

Participants may bring up to two items per person for repair. Pre-registration is encouraged at fixitps.org or via the QR code on the event flyer. Walk-ins are also welcome on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration to reserve a repair spot opens two weeks before the event.

“This is about more than just fixing things,” said a spokesperson from the Palm Springs Sustainability Department. “It’s about building community, learning new skills, and rethinking how we consume and discard.”

The City is also calling on skilled tinkerers, seamstresses, tech repair enthusiasts, and handy community members to volunteer as fixers. Interested volunteers can sign up at fixitps.org and make a direct impact by helping others extend the life of their belongings.

The Fix-it Fair is made possible thanks to the generous support of Ace Hardware Palm Springs and Palm Springs Disposal Services.
