Double Date Debuts at Omni Rancho Las Palmas, Blending Desert Flavors with Italian Tradition

Rancho Mirage, California

A new dining destination has opened recently at Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa, marking a fresh chapter in the resort’s culinary offerings. Double Date officially opened on November 12, bringing a concept that blends the Coachella Valley’s agricultural heritage with classic Italian culinary traditions.

Inspired by the region’s long-standing identity as the Date Capital of the World, Double Date combines High Desert ingredients with Italian techniques and flavors. The restaurant is led by Executive Chef Jose Lopez, a 27-year veteran of the Omni organization, who was recently promoted to helm the new concept. The menu emphasizes seasonal produce, house-made pastas and sauces, and dishes designed to be shared.

The dining room has been reimagined with a contemporary aesthetic that encourages connection. Cool tilework, plush seating, natural textures, and olive trees create an inviting atmosphere within the resort’s atrium. Central booths and refined table settings are intended to accommodate both family gatherings and intimate dinners.

The menu highlights Italian-inspired dishes with desert-influenced accents. Signature offerings include arancini made with saffron and pancetta rice, lamb osso bucco served with date molasses, leek fondue, and caramelized beets, and roasted whole branzino finished with a lemon herb sauce. According to Chef Lopez, all pastas, sauces, and desserts are prepared in-house, reflecting a focus on craftsmanship and simplicity.

An expanded cocktail program accompanies the food menu, reinterpreting classic drinks with a modern approach. Featured selections include the Dolce Vita Margarita, the espresso-forward Late Checkout, and a house Negroni made with Botanist Gin, sweet vermouth, and Campari.

The opening of Double Date signals broader changes to dining at Omni Rancho Las Palmas. The resort plans to introduce Desert Pearl Bistro Bar in early 2026, an all-day dining concept named after desert developer Pearl McManus. Desert Pearl is expected to blend mid-century modern design with California-inspired cuisine.

Double Date is located at 41000 Bob Hope Drive in Rancho Mirage and is open daily for dinner service from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Reservations are available by phone at 760-836-3112, and walk-ins are welcome.
