Joint City Council and Tribal Meeting Set for June 3 on Proposed Controversial Highway 111 Warehouse Project

Palm Springs, CA

The City of Palm Springs and the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians have scheduled a joint meeting for June 3 to discuss a proposed warehouse development planned along Highway 111 at Tipton Road.

The Joint City Council and Tribal Meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will be held at the Palm Springs Convention Center, located at 277 N. Avenida Caballeros. The meeting is open to the public.

City officials said additional time is needed for the project developer to resolve several outstanding technical issues related to the proposal. Scheduling the meeting in June will also provide City staff and the public more time to review the project and its complex environmental documents, helping ensure the discussion is as productive and informative as possible.

The proposed development, known as the Desert Mountain View Business Park Project, would be located near Interstate 10 and State Route 111. Plans call for four warehouse buildings ranging in size from approximately 248,000 square feet to 1.14 million square feet, totaling about 2.85 million square feet of industrial space.

While the City of Palm Springs has a limited role in the approval process, the joint meeting is intended to give the public an opportunity to learn more about the project and provide feedback directly to the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians. The Tribal Council is expected to make a final decision on the project later this year.

A full project description, including maps, renderings, and environmental impact findings, is available on the Tribe’s website at aguacaliente.org under the Planning Department section.

For residents unable to attend in person, the meeting will be broadcast live on the City of Palm Springs YouTube channel.
