Palm Springs, CA

All press is good press some say. That sentiment would be shared by Democratic Congressman Adam Schiff who is running to replace California Senator Dianne Feinstein in the upcoming 2024 election against two other Democrats, Congresswoman Katie Porter and Congresswoman Barbara Lee.

Early polling released on May 25th suggests a tight race between the three with 17% to Katie Porter, 14% to Adam Schiff, and 9% to Barbara Lee. 31% were undecided.

Schiff was recently censured by his Congressional Republican colleagues as retaliation for his role in investigating Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign’s ties to Russia. The sponsor of the censure, Florida Congresswoman Anna Luna said, “Adam Schiff launched an all-out political campaign built on baseless distortions against a sitting U.S. president.” The resolution barely passed along party lines with 213 Republicans voting yes and six voting present. 209 Democrats voted no.

Democrats sensing blood in the water cheered and patted Schiff on the back after the resolution passed. Schiff shook off the censorship saying, “To my Republican colleagues who introduced this resolution: I thank you,” Schiff said. “You honor me with your enmity. You flatter me with this falsehood. You, who are the authors of a big lie about the last election, must condemn the truth tellers, and I stand proudly before you.

Schiff’s senatorial website addresses some of his role in helping to impeach former President Trump while preserving the United State’s election process saying, “Adam is perhaps best known for his work to protect our democracy. He led the first House impeachment inquiry and served as the lead Manager for the first impeachment trial of President Donald J. Trump, securing the first bipartisan vote ever to convict a sitting president. As Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and member of the January 6th Committee, Adam was on the front lines of the struggle to preserve our democracy, uphold the rule of law, and hold insurrectionists accountable.”
