Coachella Valley, CA

More than 150 artists have registered to open their studios to the public in January during the highly anticipated fourth annual Desert Open Studios tour.

“We have artists from Desert Hot Springs to Indio involved again this year.  Representation across the whole Coachella Valley is important to us,” said Lynda Keeler, one of the founders of the event.  “And for the first time, we have instructors from the College of the Desert’s art department participating.  We’re very excited about their involvement”

Desert Open Studios is a free, self-guided studio tour that spans the entire Coachella Valley, taking place January 26-28, 2024, from 11am-4pm each day.  Founded in 2021, Desert Open Studios has grown from 60 to nearly 160 artists with visitors getting to see a range of creative endeavors in a variety of types of studio spaces.

“This is an experience not always available to the public who usually only get to see artwork in galleries and museums.  It’s so interesting to explore the different types of spaces in which artists work, as well as all the unique tools that they use,“ said event co-founder Anne Bedrick.  Over the course of three days, each participating artist will open their studio to art lovers to not only share their creative process but also offer artwork for sale.

Desert Open Studios is a volunteer organization that encourages sharing the love of art between creators and art enthusiasts that makes the annual event one of the most anticipated “art crawls” in the country.  It was founded with the hope of raising awareness of the amazing talent that exists here in the valley.
