Palm Springs, CA
The Thompson Hotel is moving towards opening. According to the brand, “The anticipated opening has shifted, and the hotel is now accepting reservations for September 5 and onwards—with the possibility of an earlier opening.”
We reported last year that it would be opening toward the end of 2023 but like with many new businesses opening in Palm Springs, unexpected delays happen.
They wrote, “We have made an effort to keep the local community updated on our progress, and in that same spirit wanted to proactively share our updated timeline. Over the past year, Thompson Palm Springs has made remarkable strides in recent construction progress with two model rooms completed and the rest of the mid-century modern furnishings being installed over the next 30 days, local indigenous landscaping installed throughout, stunning meeting spaces finalized and the catering kitchen equipment fully installed.”

In addition to the opening announcement, some changes and announcements have been made.
Here are additional announcements.
- Quentin Garcia announced as executive chef of Lola Rose, the focal point of Thompson Palm Springs. The all-day dining concept will bring an inviting twist on desert dining with dishes showcasing Levantine flavors and California ingredients. Chef Quentin also recently appeared on the latest season of Chopped: Spin it to Win It!
- Plans have moved forward to bring a new restaurant concept to the ground-floor and street-facing level of Thompson Palm Springs. The dynamic Mediterranean concept comes from beloved Los Angeles restaurant powerhouse, Boujis Group, whose made waves for its concepts such as Olivetta and The Draycott.
- For the sprawling retail fronting the hotel along Palm Canyon Drive, the ownership team, HALL Group, secured a first-of-its-kind tasting room from HALL Napa Valley and is in conversations with a number of national and local retailers to complete the destination.
- HALL has been working in tandem with their longtime curator Virginia Shore to select an exclusive collection of art for the hotel. Confirmed artists to be showcased include Jeffrey Gibson, Clare Rojas, Nina Chacon, Jonas Yip, Rose Cefalu, Eric-Paul Riege, Sally Davies and Elizabeth Neel.
