Palm Springs, CA

A once controversial art display housing the ‘Babies’ exhibit by Czech artist David Černý from June 2018 to June 1st, 2023 in Downtown Palm Springs has transformed into a new pickleball hub with six new courts.

The lot is adjacent to the Rowan Hotel and is owned by Grit Development with over 11,000 square feet.

Although these new pickleball courts are currently reserved solely for Rowan Hotel guests, who enjoy not just a game but also complimentary sunscreen, paddles, pickleballs, and towels with their booking, the General Manager of the Rowan Hotel, Peggy Trott told KESQ that by July, they “could be available for public use in a pay-to-play format.”

Whatever became of the “Babies” exhibit you ask? Well they were relocated to Mexico for an art exhibit there with one baby remaining in Downtown Palm Springs by the Rowan Hotel on a second story location.
