Palm Springs…

Curator James Bacchi has transformed the entrance of the iconic THE SHOPS AT 1345 in Palm Springs with a solo exhibition of Tinted Resin Works, titled the Oon Series, by California Artist, LOLA.

“Talk about being drawn in…”, says Bacchi.  “There is a depth and luminosity to these zen- like works that immediately transport viewers to their own private spaces. LOLA’s tinting prowess takes these monochrome adventures to another level, raising questions as to whether the works are backlit.  They are not.”

LOLA’s Oon Series began as Covid’s Shelter In Place Order lifted.  The rigidity in her work began to soften with her introduction of curves. “I was beginning to experience a sense of calm and began to reimagine an earlier series, The Language Of Color.  The focus was the strength I found in each color, while my subject matter for each Oon was the color itself.”
