Palm Springs, CA

The Palm Springs City Council will hold a meeting on Thursday, December 12, during which the City’s new Mayor and incoming Councilmembers will be officially sworn into office.

Current Mayor Pro Tem Ron deHarte, representing District 3, will make history as Palm Springs’ first openly gay Mexican American Mayor. DeHarte, who also serves as CEO of Greater Palm Springs Pride, will formally assume his new role during the ceremony.

Joining him will be newly elected Councilmembers Naomi Soto, representing District 4, and former Palm Springs City Manager David Ready, representing District 5. Both Soto and Ready are set to begin their terms as part of the City’s leadership team.

The meeting will also mark the departure of outgoing Mayor Jeffrey Bernstein and Councilmembers Lisa Middleton and Christy Holstege. Each will deliver final remarks reflecting on their service to the community.

Prior to the swearing-in ceremony, the current City Council will address consent agenda items. Details of the agenda can be accessed on the City’s official website.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall, located at 3200 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way.

Residents have several options to view the proceedings. They may attend in person, watch the live broadcast on the City’s YouTube channel or Palm Springs Community Television Channel 17, or stream it online at palmspringsca.gov.
