Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) marked a significant milestone yesterday with the arrival of United Airlines’ inaugural nonstop flight from Washington, D.C., linking the Coachella Valley to the nation’s capital for the first time. This daily service to Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) provides travelers with enhanced access to the East Coast and global destinations through United’s expanding hub at Dulles.

Passengers on the inaugural flight were welcomed with a celebratory arrival event, including a special commemoration at the gate. The launch of this route signifies a major step forward in PSP’s efforts to expand its air service and strengthen its role as a key gateway for international and domestic travel.

“Our addition of nonstop service to Washington, D.C.’s Dulles International Airport underscores PSP’s success in expanding air service and connecting the Coachella Valley to global destinations,” said Harry Barrett, Jr., Executive Director of Aviation at PSP. “This route solidifies our role as a gateway to the world, providing seamless access to the East Coast, Europe, and beyond while creating new opportunities for tourism and economic growth in our region.”

United’s new service will operate daily from December 19, 2024, through April 30, 2025, utilizing Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. From Washington Dulles, passengers can access over 260 flights to more than 100 destinations worldwide, offering travelers from Greater Palm Springs a more convenient pathway to global travel.

This new route offers a convenient and seamless travel option for our visitors from the East Coast, making it easier than ever to experience the natural beauty, vibrant culture, and warm hospitality of Greater Palm Springs. We look forward to providing our new guests with an unforgettable desert oasis experience.”

Flight Schedule Information:

  • Flight Dates: December 19, 2024 – April 30, 2025
  • Departure from Washington, D.C. (IAD-PSP): 9:00 a.m.
  • Departure from Palm Springs (PSP-IAD): 1:00 p.m.

This new route brings PSP’s total nonstop destinations to 30 during peak season, with one-stop connections to more than 300 global cities. The expanded connectivity enhances travel options for residents and visitors while driving economic growth and tourism in the Coachella Valley. The link between Greater Palm Springs and Washington, D.C. strengthens the region’s position as a key player in the global travel network, offering unprecedented access to international and domestic markets.
