Those ready for an urban adventure should check out the Street Fair that held upon the College of the Desert (COD) property in Palm Desert. After 41 years, the Fair is an essential part of the Coachella Valley experience.
The open air, shaded shopping draws large, enthusiastic crowds of visitors and locals. License plates from far and wide fill the well-designed, free parking lots.
Over 100 businesses set up shop each weekend with a wide variety of items for sale — with a special focus on everything you need to cope with the desert sun and enjoy social gatherings.
Walking the long aisles gives a strong sense of American enterprise — a huge variety of products for sale. The individual booths offer clothing (especially hats and sun dresses), locally sourced art, cosmetics and skin care items, golfing gear, specialty gifts, fresh produce, food trucks and more.
Many of the booths feature items made by local artisans.
The event runs October to May from 10 until 2 on Saturday and Sunday. See the link below for complete information.
It is best to wear comfortable walking shoes and a hat. There is a lot to see and a large area to cover.
As a bonus incentive, all of the money from the sellers’ space rentals goes toward annual funding and support for the students attending the College of the Desert.
The Street Fair is located at: College of the Desert
43-500 Monterey Avenue, Palm Desert, CA 92260
