Palm Springs, CA

Roadwork on State Route 111 (SR 111) will shift to nighttime hours beginning Monday, March 3, 2025, in an effort to ease daytime congestion. The construction, focused on Gene Autry Trail between Sunny Dunes Road and Vista Chino, will take place from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Thursday, March 6.

The City of Palm Springs and the SR 111 Roadway Project team approved the schedule change following public feedback about traffic delays. Crews will conduct paving and lane closures at night to minimize disruptions during peak travel hours.

Lane Closures and Traffic Impacts

Each night, different sections of Gene Autry Trail will be affected:

  • Monday, March 3: Northbound (NB) from Camino Parocela to Vista Chino; Southbound (SB) from Vista Chino to Chia Road.
  • Tuesday, March 4: SB from Chia Road through Camino Parocela; NB from Camino Parocela to Ramon Road.
  • Wednesday, March 5: NB from Ramon Road intersection to Vista Chino; NB intersections will have limited access.
  • Thursday, March 6: SB from Vista Chino to Sunny Dunes Road; SB intersections will have limited access.

While the construction team will only work in one major intersection at a time, travelers should anticipate detours and possible delays.

What Residents Can Expect

Nearby residents may experience construction noise, bright work lights, and mild vibrations from heavy equipment. Crews will remain mobile, working in one location for approximately 90 minutes before moving to the next section.

Night paving in the project area will continue throughout March, though the schedule remains subject to weather and field conditions.
