This Saturday, April 19, 2024, rising star Abi Carter, the winner of the 2024 season of American Idol, will take center stage as the headliner for the second annual KidChella Music Festival. The event, which celebrates music, creativity, and community, will be held on a sprawling 10-acre farm at The Packhouse at Aziz Farms in Thermal, just a few miles from the world-famous Coachella festival.

The Palm Springs Unified School District-organized festival is an invite-only celebration designed to provide an enriching experience for children aged 6 to 14, along with their guardians. Over 850 attendees will enjoy a day of live performances, interactive games, and fun activities, all set against the picturesque backdrop of the Coachella Valley.

As part of her ongoing commitment to promoting youth mental health, Carter also visited the headquarters of Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP) on April 16 to present the results of a three-year initiative aimed at improving mental health and student achievement for nearly 150,000 K-12 students in the Inland Empire.

KidChella isn’t just about great music and fun—it’s also an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of mental health for children. IEHP, a key partner in the event, will engage families with interactive health games led by their Health Navigators. These activities will provide both kids and parents with actionable steps to support their wellness journeys, with a particular focus on starting and maintaining conversations about mental health.

The event, which runs from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., will also feature carnival activities, prizes, and educational opportunities for families. The Packhouse at Aziz Farms, the only educational farm in the Coachella Valley, serves as the ideal venue for this community-oriented gathering, which aims to inspire creativity and foster a sense of belonging.

The festival is set to take place at 82805 Avenue 60 #1, Thermal, CA 92274.
