Palm Springs, CA
A potential tragedy was averted Friday afternoon when the Palm Springs Police Department (PSPD), with the assistance of the FBI, arrested a suspect who made an online threat to commit a shooting at the “No Kings” rally scheduled for tonight in downtown Palm Springs.
At approximately 2:12 PM on June 13, 2025, PSPD was alerted to a disturbing online post threatening violence at the politically charged “No Kings” event. The message quickly prompted alarm from the community, whose swift response played a critical role in the investigation.
Working with urgency, PSPD detectives and FBI agents identified the individual behind the threat as Edward Miranda, a 28-year-old resident of La Quinta. Law enforcement located Miranda at his home, where he was arrested without incident.
Search warrants were executed at two residences connected to Miranda—one in Riverside County and another in San Bernardino County. During the searches, investigators seized a firearm belonging to the suspect. Officials have not disclosed whether the weapon matched any specifics mentioned in the online threat.

Chief Andrew Mills praised the community and law enforcement efforts in a statement:
“We take all threats to public safety seriously and will vigorously pursue those intent on committing violence in our community. Thanks to the vigilance of a community member who saw something and said something, along with the tireless efforts of our PSPD detectives and FBI partners, we were able to identify and apprehend the suspect, ensuring the safety of tonight’s event.”
PSPD has assured the public that a heavy police presence will be maintained throughout the evening to protect rally participants and deter any further threats.
The investigation remains active, and authorities encourage anyone with additional information to contact PSPD at (760) 327-1441 or submit anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers at (760) 341-7867.
As Palm Springs prepares for the “No Kings” rally tonight, the swift response of law enforcement serves as a reminder of the importance of community awareness and inter-agency cooperation in safeguarding public events.
