Palm Springs, CA

The James O. Jessie Desert Highland Unity Center has officially entered a new digital era thanks to a $56,196 grant from the California Public Utilities Commission’s California Advanced Services Fund (CASF) Broadband Adoption program. The funding has fueled a sweeping technology upgrade led by the City of Palm Springs’ Information Technology Department, transforming the Center into a modern tech hub for the community.

Located at 480 W. Tramview Road, the Center now boasts 16 brand-new computer workstations outfitted with updated monitors, keyboards, mice, desks, and ergonomic chairs. In addition, high-speed Wi-Fi has been extended throughout the entire facility—including areas that previously lacked coverage, such as the gymnasium and meeting rooms.

“This is more than a technology improvement, it’s an investment in our residents and their future,” said Nicholas Gonzalez, Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Palm Springs. “Whether it’s for homework, job applications, or accessing critical services, our community now has the tools and connectivity to succeed. We thank the CPUC for their support and extend special recognition to our IT Department for leading this important work.”

The James O. Jessie Desert Highland Unity Center serves as a vital hub for recreational and educational services in North Palm Springs. With these new technology resources, residents of all ages now have access to a comfortable and efficient digital environment—free of charge.
