The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is gearing up for the holiday rush with extended hours of operation over Labor Day Weekend, offering visitors more time to enjoy cooler mountain air and scenic views.

From Saturday, August 30, through Monday, September 1, guests can take advantage of longer tram service. On Saturday and Sunday, the first tram car departs at 8:00 a.m., with the last tram up at 9:00 p.m. and the final tram down at 10:30 p.m. On Monday, the first tram leaves at 8:00 a.m., the last tram up is at 8:00 p.m., and the final tram down departs at 9:30 p.m.

Final Summer Nature Walks

Labor Day Weekend also marks the conclusion of the Guided Nature Walks offered by Mt. San Jacinto State Park Volunteers. These complimentary walks, held Sundays throughout the summer, will wrap up on Sunday, August 31.

  • At 11:00 a.m., guests can embark on the Desert View Trail, a 1½-mile route showcasing dramatic vistas.
  • At 1:30 p.m., the Long Valley Nature Trail, a ¾-mile loop, highlights the area’s unique alpine landscape.

No registration is required, and both hikes begin at the bottom of the Mountain Station concrete path.

About the Tramway

Since opening in 1963, the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway has dazzled visitors as the world’s largest rotating tram car. Each 80-passenger car soars along the sheer cliffs of Chino Canyon, carrying riders from the Valley Station (2,643 feet) to the Mountain Station (8,516 feet) in just ten minutes. At the top, guests can enjoy hiking, dining, and panoramic views across the Coachella Valley.
