On Sunday, September 14, 2025, at approximately 2:51 PM, Palm Springs Police Department dispatch received a report of a possible bomb threat in the 150 block of South Palm Canyon Drive.

According to the initial report, a male individual approached a restaurant employee and stated there was a bomb inside a vehicle parked in front of the location. Palm Springs Police officers immediately responded, secured the area, and requested assistance from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team. A Palm Springs Police Department Explosives K-9 was also deployed to assist in clearing the vehicle.

The subject, identified as Chad Everett Miller, 54, of Cathedral City, was contacted by officers. The vehicle in question was thoroughly checked, and no explosives or hazardous devices were found.

Miller will be booked at the John Benoit Detention Center on charges of 148.1 PC – Bomb Threat.

The Palm Springs Police Department would like to reassure the community that there was no ongoing threat to public safety. The affected roadway has since been reopened.
