Rancho Mirage, CA

A beach in the desert might sound like something out of a mirage, but in Rancho Mirage, it’s now a reality. Disney has officially opened Cotino’s Artisan Club and Cotino Bay, the centerpiece of its first Storyliving by Disney community. The project introduces a first-of-its-kind experience to the Coachella Valley — a turquoise, swimmable lagoon that blends desert living with a coastal vibe complete with beach sand and resort-style surroundings.

Cotino Bay in Rancho Mirage

The newly unveiled Cotino Bay is a man-made lagoon powered by Crystal Lagoons® technology, bringing crystal-clear, temperature-balanced water to the desert landscape. The setting evokes a beach resort atmosphere, offering residents opportunities for kayaking, paddleboarding, or simply relaxing on the sandy shoreline under the mountain backdrop.

Although much of the Artisan Club remains exclusive to residents, Disney has confirmed that part of Cotino Bay will be accessible to the public through paid day passes, allowing visitors to experience the lagoon’s beach and recreation areas without living in the community.

Dining, Retail, and Wellness Also Coming in 2026

Disney has also announced the first lineup of restaurants, retailers, and wellness studios coming to Cotino Bay Beach, Dining and Shops, a public town center set to open in fall 2026. The area will combine dining, shopping, and leisure experiences with paid access to Cotino Bay.

Among the first tenants: Elevare, a waterfront restaurant offering locally inspired American cuisine and mountain views; Artigiano, a Canadian coffee brand opening its first U.S. café; On the Mark Fine Foods & Provisions, a Palm Springs market known for artisan goods and wine; and Khaga Yoga, a wellness studio offering classes and a retail boutique.

Expanding the Storyliving Concept

The new Artisan Club is anchored by Parr House, an event venue inspired by the family home from Pixar’s The Incredibles 2. Designed by Disney Imagineers, the building reflects mid-century modern influences and Disney’s signature storytelling approach.

“Cotino isn’t just a new community – it is a dynamic, creative oasis where residents will experience a vibrant lifestyle that is truly unique,” said Claire Bilby, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Signature Experiences Emerging Businesses.
