Palm Springs, CA
Cicada Fine Art is marking its second anniversary with a new exhibition celebrating queer identity, creativity, and visibility in Palm Springs’ Uptown Design District. The gallery will host an opening reception on Thursday, November 7, from 5 to 7 p.m., featuring the work of Rene Porter, a lesbian artist whose latest series pays tribute to the world of drag performance.
Located at 901 North Palm Canyon Drive, #107, Cicada Fine Art has become known for its mix of contemporary works from both established and emerging artists. This anniversary exhibition continues that mission, focusing on the intersection of art, community, and LGBTQ+ representation.
Porter’s new body of work features expressive portraits that capture the glamour, defiance, and individuality of drag performers. Each piece highlights both the artist’s personal connection to queer culture and a broader message about freedom of expression. The collection is expected to draw strong interest from the local art community, known for its deep ties to LGBTQ+ culture and activism.
“As a gay-owned gallery, it’s deeply meaningful for us to highlight LGBTQ+ artists who are using their work to celebrate identity, freedom, and authenticity,” said Christopher Cummings, owner of Cicada Fine Art. “We’re honored to stand proudly with our community—especially in times when visibility and representation matter most.”
