Palm Springs, CA

The Palm Springs City Council is set to address several major items of community interest during its upcoming meeting on Wednesday, November 12, at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall, 3200 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way.

Among the topics on the agenda is an ordinance that would establish annual contract limits for vacation rentals, a policy aimed at managing the city’s growing short-term rental sector. Councilmembers will also review proposed funding for two new public art installations — “Yellow Warbler” and “Dancing Rhino” — slated for the Old Las Palmas neighborhood.

The meeting will also include acceptance of the completed Arenas Business District Landmark Flagpole project, a new downtown feature celebrating inclusivity and civic pride.

A public hearing is scheduled to review an appeal concerning a proposed nine-story hotel at 847 E. Andreas Road, a project that has drawn both support for its potential economic benefits and concern over height and neighborhood impact.

Additionally, the Council will consider the Palm Springs Economic Development Strategic Framework, a guiding document that outlines future priorities and policies designed to strengthen the city’s economic resilience and attract sustainable investment.

Residents are encouraged to attend the meeting in person, watch live on the City’s YouTube channel or at palmspringsca.gov, or tune in to Palm Springs Community Television Channel 17. The full agenda and supporting documents are available at palmspringsca.gov.
