Palm Springs, CA

The Palm Springs City Council will meet Wednesday, January 28, to review and consider several items that could impact residents, businesses, and the downtown area.

One of the main agenda items is a presentation from Police Chief Andy Mills, who will provide an update on citywide traffic initiatives. The presentation is expected to focus on traffic safety, enforcement, and ongoing efforts to improve traffic flow throughout Palm Springs.

The Council will also hold a public hearing on the proposed historic designation of the Fallows-Cone Residence. If approved, the designation would formally recognize the home’s historical and architectural significance and provide it with protections under city preservation guidelines.

Another item on the agenda is the first reading of an ordinance related to the undergrounding of private utility connections that link to underground public utilities. The proposed ordinance would establish updated rules and requirements for property owners when utilities are placed below ground.

Councilmembers will also receive a report on the City’s Downtown Parking Strategy. The report will outline current parking conditions, usage patterns, and potential strategies aimed at improving access and availability in the downtown core.

In addition, the Council will consider an ordinance to restructure the City’s Hotel Operations Incentive Program. The program is designed to support hotel operations and tourism-related investment, and the proposed changes aim to better align incentives with current economic goals.

Residents may attend the meeting in person, watch live on the City’s YouTube Channel or at palmspringsca.gov, or view the broadcast on Palm Springs Community Television Channel 17.
