A new entertainment venue is preparing to open in downtown Palm Springs. Spirit Animal, an immersive supper club located inside Hotel Zoso, will celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, March 14, with a live dinner show featuring comedian and former Saturday Night Live cast member Melissa Villaseñor.

The venue is located at 150 South Indian Canyon Drive in the space formerly occupied by Pretty Faces and Sirocco. Spirit Animal is being launched by Take Five Entertainment, in partnership with Hotel Zoso and Columbia Hospitality.

The opening night event will feature “Avery Pearson’s Comedian Rhapsody,” a live show that blends stand-up comedy with original music. The performance begins at 7 p.m. and will be presented as a full sit-down dinner experience, introducing audiences to the style of programming planned for the new venue.

Comedian, musician, and producer Avery Pearson will host the evening. Pearson has worked across television, streaming platforms, and live events, including projects such as Take a Banana for the Ride on Broadway, Dr. Phil Live, Netflix’s Historical Roast, Hulu’s Iliza’s Locals, the ESPY Awards, and Peacock’s Good Sports. Over the years he has collaborated with performers including Kevin Hart, Jeff Ross, Sarah Silverman, Tiffany Haddish, MGK, and Jelly Roll.

Joining Pearson on stage will be actor and singer Scout Durwood, known for performances in The Hook at Caesars Palace, MTV’s Mary + Jane, the series Youtopia, and the musical comedy special Take One Thing Off.

The evening’s headliner will be Melissa Villaseñor, who gained national recognition during her six-season run on Saturday Night Live. Villaseñor is widely known for her celebrity impressions and musical comedy, which combine stand-up performance with singing. She previously collaborated with Pearson on her 2019 comedy album Dreamer. In addition to SNL, Villaseñor has appeared on America’s Got Talent, the HBO series Barry, and voiced a character in the animated film Toy Story 4.

Organizers describe Spirit Animal as a “psychedelic live entertainment playground,” designed to combine live performances, immersive visuals, and a supper club atmosphere. The concept aims to bring a mix of comedy, music, and other live entertainment to Hotel Zoso and downtown Palm Springs.

The March 14 performance will serve as the official debut of the venue and a preview of the programming Spirit Animal plans to offer moving forward.
