Palm Springs, CA
The Plaza Theatre has announced that comedian Kathy Griffin will headline her first-ever residency, Can You Handle This Heat? The Kathy Griffin Palm Springs Residency, set for three performances in early 2027.
The residency will take place at the historic Plaza Theatre in downtown Palm Springs, with scheduled shows on January 31, February 26, and March 26, 2027. Tickets go on sale Friday, May 8 at 10:00 a.m. through Ticketmaster and the theatre’s official website. Members of the Plaza Theatre will receive early access to seating.
According to organizers, each performance will feature entirely new material, ensuring that no two shows are the same. Griffin, known for her unfiltered and often provocative comedic style, is expected to deliver a different experience at each appearance.
“Kathy Griffin is one of the most fearless comedians alive, and we couldn’t be prouder to give her first-ever residency a home right here in Palm Springs,” said John Bolton, Senior Vice President and General Manager of OVG/Plaza Theatre. “Can You Handle This Heat is the kind of bold, unexpected programming that defines what The Plaza Theatre is all about.”
Griffin is a Guinness World Record holder for the most televised stand-up comedy specials by any comedian. Her career includes performances at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden, the Sydney Opera House, and the Kennedy Center. She is also a Grammy Award winner for Best Comedy Album for Kathy Griffin: Calm Down Gurrl and earned two Emmy Awards for her Bravo series Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List.
The announcement comes as the Plaza Theatre continues to build momentum following its reopening in December 2025 after a decade-long closure. Since reopening, the venue has hosted a series of sold-out performances and expanded its programming lineup.
City officials and organizers say Palm Springs’ reputation for embracing bold personalities and entertainment makes it an ideal setting for Griffin’s debut residency. With only three scheduled performances and unique material planned for each night, audiences are encouraged to secure tickets early.
