Comprising 40 units within 12 separate buildings on a five-acre plot, Royal Hawaiian Estates was designed by the architectural firm Wexler & Harrison in 1960. The architectural concept expertly combines modernist features with Polynesian details, including unique elements such as “tiki apexes” and “flying sevens.” Acknowledging its historical importance, the complex attained the distinction of being Palm Springs’ first residential historic district in 2010.
