Established in 1955 by developer Bob Higgins, Sunmor Estates is a Palm Springs neighborhood renowned for its unique design, created by architects Donald Wexler (notable for the Palm Springs International Airport) and Richard Harrison. The initial 11 homes were crafted by Wexler and Harrison. Subsequently, the Alexander Construction Company assumed control in 1957, enlisting William Krisel to design homes in adjacent land tracts, known as the Alexander Homes. Additional tracts, designed by Jack Meiselman, were introduced in 1960 and 1962, featuring a distinct style from the first two tracts. Sunmor Estates comprises a total of 141 homes.
