Palm Desert, CA
Designer Troy Bankord works on many high end design projects, both interiors and landscaping. He took on a smaller scale project with equal gusto, talent and vision to completely upgrade a 1978 manufactured home in the 55+ community, Portola Country Club, in Palm Desert.
Troy’s goal was to keep the fun retro elements while elevating the property with color and chic details. He channeled a little Mod – Regency into this very special home. The original cabinets, countertops and curves were kept in the kitchen but new appliances and a lovely paint job were added to give it style and functionality.

Throughout the home the floors, lighting and carpeting were upgraded and no expense was spared to create a jewel box of a home that exudes the desert resort lifestyle of your dreams. A custom-built firepit has become a spot to enjoy the spectacular mountain vistas. Beautiful plantings and outdoor lighting make the outdoors as lovely as the inside with a view from the back of a pond with water features as well as the 15th hole of the Portola Country Club golf course.
The community has great amenities such as a Clubhouse with café, library, bar and gym, tennis, pickleball, 3 pools, spas, 7 ponds, Par-3 golf course and putting green for an HOA cost of just $379 per month.
This gorgeous home is just a short drive from all the shops and restaurants of El Paseo. How much will it set you back? The unique, showplace is listed at $449,500. And it will make you smile every time you walk in the door.
The property is listed with Kiki and Greg Tormo with the Paul Kaplan Group.
