Chuck Swenson began to bake in 2004. Wherever he lived, whether it be Vermont, Seattle, Pasadena, or Minneapolis, his neighbors would compliment him on his baking repertoire. They loved his baking so much that people would always tell him he needed to start his own baking show.
Fast forward to 2023 after Swenson moved to the desert, he says, “about a year ago, a friend of mine who is a national television producer, said to me “OK, Chuck, we’ve been talking about this a long time – let’s finally go out and shoot some footage for a pilot.” So, we did.” The Palm Springs Baker show had begun.
Swenson goes on to say, “we shot the show opener that we still use today, with me romping around downtown Palm Springs with my whisk and mixing bowl. After the show started airing, my followers increased to the thousands – wow! Now I have followers from all over the world. That makes me very happy because the sole mission of the show is to provide a happy, humorous platform where people can chuckle, in this complicated world, every time they watch.”
Swenson, aka the Palm Springs Baker has had a number of local and national celebrities join his show including actress Ruta Lee, Thalia Hayden – anchor on NBC Palm Springs, Manny The Movie Guy – movie critic on NBC Palm Springs, Del Shores – creator, director and actor, best known for “Sordid Lives, Tony Maietta – Hollywood actor, Bella da Ball – hostess with the mostest of Palm Springs, Tommi Rose – legendary drag artist, Jim Stake – actor on “All My Children,” Paul O’Halloran – owner of Paul Bar in Palm Springs, Palm Springs Police Chief Andy Mills and his wife Cathy, just to name a few. The Palm Springs Gay Men’s Chorus has even been on an episode. See video here:
“What’s been most rewarding for me is receiving posts from viewers like this one: “You are the epitome of JOY. You always bring me so much happiness . . . and I adore your saucy quips too! Love to you always!!” Trust me, I appreciate and love all of my viewers, too!” said Swenson.
