While some California politicians are calling on Senator Dianne Feinstein age 89 to resign questioning her fitness for office due to health reasons, the senior California Senator recently released the following statement after Governor Greg Abbott (R-Texas) sent a busload of migrants to Los Angeles.

The senator wrote:

“It’s reprehensible that Republican governors are callously sending migrants, including families with minors, to California just to score cheap political points with their base.

“Many of these families are fleeing horrendous conditions in their home countries. They deserve to be met with compassion while seeking asylum, not to be treated as political pawns.

“Despite Governor Abbott’s claim, sending migrants from one border state to another will do nothing to alleviate the situation at the border. I’m proud to see California stepping up to help these families as they arrive.

“I encourage the Biden administration to continue to investigate these flights and bus trips to see if any laws are being broken. This cruelty is beneath us as Americans, and one way or another, it must stop.”

Feinstein has had a long and illustrious career as a California Senator first being elected into office in 1992. Before that she served as mayor of San Francisco from 1978 to 1988.

Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein’s office recently acknowledged she is suffering from Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a complication from the shingles virus she contracted earlier this year.

In February the Senator wrote, “I am announcing today I will not run for reelection in 2024 but intend to accomplish as much for California as I can through the end of next year when my term ends.”
