The race to replace outgoing senator Dianne Feinstein (D) in 2024 is on in California with three Democrats, Adam Schiff, Katie Porter, and Barbara Lee vying for the position.

While the candidate who is the top fundraiser doesn’t always win a political race, fundraising in a political campaign does help to build a political advantage because it more easily enables a candidate to get their message out to voters by the way of campaign mailers, door to door knockers, phone bankers, and other media outlets like radio, tv, and newspaper ads.

Between the three candidates for California Senator, Adam Schiff now has a very large fundraising advantage. He has raised over $8.1 million dollars in the 2nd quarter of 2023 with close to $30 million on hand.

The campaign had over 146,000 unique donors in Q2 of 2023, making nearly 236,000 contributions across every county in California and every state in the country.

Next up is Katie Porter who has reported raising $3.1 million in the 2nd quarter with roughly $10.4 million in her campaign.

Barbara Lee has reported raising around $1 million for her campaign and having about $1.4 million in her campaign.

In addition to raising gobs of cash, Schiff has earned the endorsement of more than 200 current and former California elected officials and 60 percent of California’s Democratic congressional delegation including Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi.

In June, Schiff was censured by house republicans due to his investigation into former President Trump and his ties to Russia. The congressman, saw the Republican’s censure as a badge of honor saying “To my Republican colleagues who introduced this resolution: I thank you,” Schiff said. “You honor me with your enmity. You flatter me with this falsehood. You, who are the authors of a big lie about the last election, must condemn the truth tellers, and I stand proudly before you.”
