Palm Springs, CA
After nearly three decades and countless orders of eggs over easy and fried potatoes, Rick’s Restaurant & Bakery in Palm Springs is preparing to shut its doors.
Regulars who have made its familiar booths a second home will have to adjust their routines, however they won’t have to venture too far for their morning fix. Rick Seidner, the restaurant’s founder and owner, announced to The Desert Sun on Thursday that while the physical restaurant will close by the end of March, the exact closing date is yet to be determined and patrons can take solace in the fact that breakfast and lunch services will be relocated to Rick’s Desert Grill, less than a block away.

Rick’s Desert Grill, established in 2008, has mostly served dinner however, it will seamlessly transition to offering the same menu items that made Rick’s Restaurant & Bakery a local favorite. Seidner explained that the decision to close was prompted by a potential property buyer’s reluctance to commit to a long-term lease. He assured that all staff from the original Rick’s will transition to the desert grill, ensuring continuity and familiarity for patrons and employees alike.
Seidner mentioned that the team is actively striving to create a new ambiance for the upcoming breakfast and lunch crowds at Rick’s Desert Grill, setting it apart from the evening dining experience currently offered.
