Grand performances, great music and personality-plus make the COACHELLA VALLEY REPERTORY 2024 SUMMER CABARET SERIES among the very best ways to enjoy the summer. CVRep has scheduled 17 memorable evenings of award-winning talent, vivacious personalities, music and song, levity, and stories that are just waiting to be shared. This year’s Summer Cabaret Series runs May 15 through July 25, and has been expanded to include two shows every week!

Tickets are $50 and on sale now.  They may be ordered online at www.cvrep.org, by calling (760) 296-2966, ext. 201, or at the CVRep box office located at 68510 East Palm Canyon Dr., Cathedral City. Special custom ticket packages are available. The box office is open Tuesdays-Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and one hour prior to performances. In order to better serve audiences, patrons requesting accessibility assistance are encouraged to contact the box office at least 24 hours prior to their ticketed performance.  Artists, show titles and dates are subject to change.

MELISSA ERRICO │June 5 & 6, 2024

Broadway star, Tony Award nominee, actress on the stage, in films and on television, singer and author MELISSA ERRICO returns to CVRep following last summer’s one-woman tribute to Stephen Sondheim. In her new show, The Life & Loves of a Broadway Baby, Erricosets her own life to the Broadway songs that she has sung and owned – while singing a sensational set of beloved standards and a series of witty and sometimes wicked stories about a life lived on the Great White Way. She was a favorite of Stephen Sondheim and Michel Legrand, and remains a proponent of their music and legacies. As a musical theatre actress, Errico starred on Broadway in such musicals as My Fair Lady, Anna Karenina, High Society as Tracy Lord, Amour (Tony-nominated for Best Actress), Dracula, White Christmas in the Rosemary Clooney role of Betty, and as Cosette in Les Misérables.

BROADWAY SHOWSTOPPERS SERIS with GLENN ROSENBLUMPART II │ Jun 12, 2024

Glenn Rosenblum continues his survey of musical theatre history and lore with this second of three unique installments of BROADWAY SHOWSTOPPERS with GLENN ROSENBLUM. His encyclopedic knowledge of Broadway is awesome, and he always includes surprise guests and artists.

On Broadway, ALYSHA UMPHRESS has appeared in On the Town (as Hildy), American Idiot, On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, and Bring it On!. Recent credits include the Off-Broadway revival of Smokey Joe’s Cafe, for which she received a Lucille Lortel nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical and whose cast won the Chita Rivera Award for Best Ensemble of a Musical; On the Town (again as Hildy) with the San Francisco Symphony under the baton of Michael Tilson Thomas; and Wonderful Town (as Ruth Sherwood) with the London Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle, which was recorded on the LSO label.

LESLIE TINNARO: BACK TO BEFORE │June 19, 2024

Broadway veteran Leslie Tinnaro shares a legacy of experiences and triumphs in her one-woman cabaret show, BACK TO BEFORE.  She was in the original Los Angeles company of Evita and later joined the Broadway company. Among the many roles she has presented in many productions, Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady remains her favorite. Others include Mama Rose in Gypsy, Julie in Show Boat, Sally and Fraulein Schultz in Cabaret, Lili in Carnival, Jerry’s Girls, and World Goes Round. Jeffrey Lesser joins Tinnaro as her special guest. Eddy Clement is music director and accompanist.

JASON GRAAE │ June 20, 2024

The infinitely talented JASON GRAAE returns to CVRep with his new show, Graavitas, in which he explores his roots with songs and stories. Graae has appeared in countless important Broadway and Off-Broadway productions, on TV and film, in opera and on many recordings. He won the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Joel Hirschhorn Award for Outstanding Achievement in Musical Theatre, the Ovation Award, San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Award, four NYC Bistro Awards and others. He starred with Faith Prince in the critically acclaimed The Prince and the Showboy, played at 54 Below, which gained second Nightlife Award and a Robby Award for Best Duo. He will be joined by Music Director Gerald Steinbach.

PHILIP CHAFFIN: WILL HE LIKE ME? │ June 26, 2024

In WILL HE LIKE ME?, three-time Grammy nominee Philip Chaffin takes two dozen classics of the Great American Songbook — songs once considered off-limits to male vocalists — and reimagines them for the marriage-equality era. He weaves together nearly a century of American popular song to tell a gay man’s love story: one that takes him from first date to final farewell. CVRep audiences will remember him as Da in the 2023 production of Once. His career spans 25 years, with NYC credits that include the world premiere of Alan Menken and Tim Rice’s King David and the Encores! revival of Sweet Adeline. He has appeared solo at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and The Kennedy Center, and performs in regional theaters on both coasts.

KEN PAGE │June 27, 2024

KEN PAGE is an acclaimed, award-winning performer on Broadway, in theater companies across the country, in films (Dreamgirls, Torch Song Trilogy, All Dogs Go To Heaven), and in concert halls. He provided the unmistakable voice of Mr. Oogie Boogie in the classic Disney, Tim Burton film The Nightmare Before Christmas. Page also sang in concert versions of the movie at the Hollywood Bowl, Barclay Center N.Y., London’s OVO Wembley Arena, and in Tokyo, Glasgow, Dublin. He starred in Broadway’s all-Black revival of Guys and Dolls (winning a Theatre World Award), and reprised his performance at the Hollywood Bowl. He also portrayed Sebastian in The Little Mermaid live to film performance at the Bowl.  Page performed in Ain’t Misbehavin’ (winning a Drama Desk Award for best actor) and in Children of Eden in London’s Palladium, plus a concert version of My One and Only. Page started his career at the MUNY in St. Louis, and as performed there in 44 productions. Benet Braun will be musical director.

He has appeared on television (including a featured role on All My Children) and in films. Actor, singer, lyricist, choreographer BERNIE BLANKS has appeared internationally in productions of Starlight Express, Ms. Saigon, God spell, Radio City Christmas Spectacular, A Chorus Line, Evita, Grease, Shakespeare & Rock ’n‘ Roll, and Peter Affray’s Tagalog & Lilli. He also produced and starred in his own concert series, Another Country.

For their joint CVRep debut the identical twin Cardia sisters combine contemporary singing, humor, and heartfelt stories. Separately and together, Julie and Jana create delightful fun. Julie was in the national tours of Cameron Mackintosh’s Broadway revival of Les Misérables, in the Roundabout’s revival of 1776, Annie, The Music Man: In Concert, and with regional theatre companies around the country. Janna has spent more than three decades performing professionally in national tours, international tours, and in leading regional theaters throughout the United States. Together, the Cardia sisters starred as clones in the World Premier of Paul Tully’s Replica at Stages Repertory Theatre in Houston, and in productions of Pump Boys and Dinettes as the Cupp Sisters, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change as Woman 1&2, and The Odd Couple as The Pigeon Sisters.
