Palm Springs, CA

The Rite Aid pharmacy located in Palm Springs at 111 S Sunrise Way will be closing its doors as part of a broader wave of store shutdowns linked to the company’s ongoing bankruptcy proceedings.

The pharmacy division of Rite Aid has been purchased by Kroger, the parent company of Ralphs grocery stores. As a result, all prescriptions from the Palm Springs Rite Aid will be automatically transferred to the Ralphs pharmacy located at 425 S Sunrise Way, Palm Springs, CA 92262 by June 24, 2025. Customers with questions or concerns about their prescriptions can contact Ralphs Pharmacy at 760-327-7381.

Customers who prefer to transfer their prescriptions to another pharmacy—such as CVS—may do so by contacting the pharmacy of their choice directly and requesting a transfer.

The Palm Springs closure is one of the first in what is expected to be a sweeping reduction of Rite Aid’s national footprint. The company filed for bankruptcy and is now preparing to sell nearly all of its 1,240 stores, pending court approval. A flyer shared by Nexstar’s WHTM indicates that A&G Real Estate Partners will oversee the sale, which includes 1,187 retail leases and 50 fee-owned properties across 15 states.

This move is part of Rite Aid’s effort to restructure its operations and address its financial challenges. Local residents are advised to plan accordingly for their prescription needs as the transition takes place.
