PALM SPRINGS, CA
The Palm Springs City Council is set to take up a range of community-focused topics during its regular meeting on Wednesday, April 22, with discussions spanning recreation, neighborhood safety, budgeting, and local governance.
Among the items on the agenda is a presentation and update from Blue Zones Palm Springs, which will provide insight into ongoing efforts to improve community health and wellbeing across the city.
Council members will also consider plans related to the proposed expansion of pickleball facilities at Demuth Park, a project that has drawn increasing public interest as demand for court space continues to grow in the Coachella Valley.
Neighborhood infrastructure will be another focus, as the council reviews potential traffic calming measures for the Toledo Avenue area. The proposed changes are aimed at improving safety and reducing speeding concerns raised by residents.
In addition, a public hearing will be held regarding the Community Development Block Grant Annual Action Plan Budget. The federal funding program supports a variety of local initiatives, including housing, public services, and community development projects.
City leadership structure is also expected to be discussed, with council members set to consider the direction of a directly elected mayor, a topic that could shape future governance in Palm Springs.
The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall, located at 3200 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way. Members of the public may attend in person or watch the meeting live via the city’s YouTube channel, the official city website, or Palm Springs Community Television Channel 17.
The full agenda is available on the City of Palm Springs website.
