Palm Springs, CA

A suspect was found deceased Sunday afternoon following an attempted murder investigation in a Palm Springs neighborhood, according to the Palm Springs Police Department.

Officers responded around 2:35 p.m. on April 26 to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 290 block of West San Rafael Drive. When they arrived, they located an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds described as non-life-threatening.

The victim was treated at the scene and transported to a local hospital. During the initial investigation, the victim identified a suspect known to him, police said.

Authorities learned the suspect had fled into a nearby commercial unit. Officers set up a perimeter and attempted to make contact with the individual but were unsuccessful.

Investigators later obtained a search warrant to enter the location. Inside, officers found the suspect deceased from what was determined to be an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The identity of the suspect has not yet been released and will be provided by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office pending notification of next of kin.
