Palm Desert, CA
Palm Desert is preparing to welcome a major new recreation and entertainment destination this summer as DSRT Surf is expected to open in late July 2026, bringing a large-scale surf resort experience to the Coachella Valley.
The highly anticipated development aims to blend surfing, hospitality, recreation, and entertainment into a destination unlike anything currently operating in the region. Project representatives emphasize that DSRT Surf is an independent development and is not affiliated with Palm Springs Surf Club.
Located in Palm Desert near Desert Willow, the project is centered around a 5.5-acre Wavegarden Cove surf lagoon designed to create customizable ocean-style waves for surfers of varying skill levels. The technology is expected to generate up to 1,000 waves per hour, allowing beginners and experienced surfers to utilize the facility simultaneously.
Beyond surfing, the approximately 17-acre development is planned to include a beach club atmosphere with food and beverage offerings, wellness programming, leisure amenities, pickleball courts, and gathering spaces intended to create a year-round destination for residents and visitors alike.
Future phases are expected to incorporate resort accommodations and residential components, expanding the project into a larger hospitality and lifestyle destination.
Developers have also promoted sustainability initiatives tied to the project, including landscape water conservation efforts intended to help offset water usage associated with surf lagoon operations.
The opening adds another tourism and recreation-focused attraction to the Greater Palm Springs region as desert cities continue investing in hospitality, entertainment, and lifestyle amenities designed to serve both residents and visitors.
DSRT Surf enters a growing market for man-made surf experiences while establishing its own identity in the Coachella Valley, separate from Palm Springs Surf Club and other regional attractions.
According to project information, DSRT Surf remains on track for a late July 2026 opening. Additional updates can be found through the company’s website at dsrtsurf.com.
