PALM SPRINGS, Calif. — The Palm Springs Cultural Center (PSCC) sustained significant fire damage Saturday night, June 27, with the blaze destroying the venue’s café and causing water damage to two of its theaters, according to the organization.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. PSCC officials confirmed that the café was a total loss, while Theatre 2 and Theatre 3 suffered water damage as a result of firefighting efforts. The center’s largest venue, the Historic Camelot Theatre (Theater 1), along with the lounge and lobby, were not touched by the flames.

No injuries were reported. PSCC credited staff and volunteers with ensuring everyone safely evacuated the building before crews arrived.

Members of Palm Springs Fire Department Station Two responded to the scene and worked to control and extinguish the fire. The cultural center praised firefighters for their quick action in containing the damage.

In the aftermath, officials said the building remains saturated with smoke odor, and all programming has been suspended until further notice. A timeline for reopening has not been announced.

PSCC said it has been moved by the community’s response in the days since the fire, thanking those who have already donated to support recovery efforts. The organization is continuing to accept donations and said it will provide updates as more information becomes available.

The Palm Springs Cultural Center has not yet released an estimate of the total damage or a timeline for restoring the affected theaters and café.
