PALM SPRINGS, CA

Seven authors will gather under one tent at Palm Springs Pride on November 7 and 8 for The Authors’ Oasis, offering festivalgoers a chance to meet writers, browse books and discuss the stories behind their work.

Located on Palm Canyon between Andreas Road and Tahquitz Canyon, the gathering will feature Rich Merritt, Rick R. Reed, Marc Gauss, Peter J. Cervantes, Dominic Anaya, Jallen Rix and David Remington.

Their work spans memoir, fiction, recovery, religion, sex, politics, identity and personal transformation. Throughout the weekend, the authors will sign books, meet readers and take part in informal conversations about writing and personal experience.

The Authors’ Oasis is designed as an accessible, conversational stop within the festival, where visitors can discover different genres and connect directly with writers.

The gathering also highlights storytelling’s role in LGBTQ+ visibility. For generations, LGBTQ+ lives have been described and interpreted by churches, political systems, medicine, the military and the media. The Authors’ Oasis offers a space for people to share their own stories and hear from others.

Attendees interested in sharing a compelling personal story for a new podcast project planned for 2027 are invited to speak with Merritt at the tent. He will be available to discuss the project with potential participants.

A four-legged visitor is also expected: Merritt plans to bring Spike, his West Highland White Terrier puppy.

The Authors’ Oasis will be open during the Palm Springs Pride Festival on Saturday, November 7, and Sunday, November 8. Attendees are invited to stop by, browse the books and join the conversation.
