Palm Springs, CA
The Webster, a luxury multi-brand omnichannel retailer, announced today that they would open their ninth permanent location in Palm Springs, making this their fourth location in California, following their 2020 openings in Los Angeles and Montecito at Rosewood Miramar Beach. The uptown Palm Springs location opens in true The Webster fashion, immersing themselves immediately into the scene, aligning their timing with Coachella and the biannual art exhibit, Desert X. The concept of the retailer was created during Art Basel, when Founder and CEO Laure Hériard Dubreuil attended the fair for the first time and became inspired by the culture of Miami, which now over a decade later has become a vital part of their brand identity.
The 4,200-square-foot storefront is a 1970s revival property with strong structural details representative of Palm Springs’s notorious stylistic history, was renovated by French interior designer Stéphane Parmentier. This will be the third location designed by Parmentier, building continuity among The Webster store design with key design elements found in Montecito and Toronto, connecting the three boutiques while still approaching each location design through an individualized lens that reflects the community they are set in. “Each The Webster project is approached with such heart and emotion. Every detail has such a meaningful purpose, exuding luxury while creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for all,” says Stéphane Parmentier.

The inspiration for The Webster in Palm Springs is drawn from Brazil, more specifically, strong references to design from Saõ Paulo and Brasília, such as elements of geometric and timeless architecture. This aesthetic fuses seamlessly with the sensual and free spirit that is at the core of The Webster’s DNA and how they approach everything from the stores they create to the curations that are housed in them. Upon entering the store are two seating areas that are a tribute to Brazilian designer Oscar Niemeyer’s genius, with architectural chairs upholstered in fabrics in off-white, light pink, and mustard, dark brown leather, and rich wood hues. The pink cloud ceiling ignites the eye from the moment of entry, capturing the essence of the sunsets over the Copacabana and an ode to The Webster’s signature pink. The store is lined with shelving and rails that are rendered in white sand-inspired fabric, reminiscent of the buildings and beach in Brasília, while contrasting Amazonian earth color flooring runs throughout, creating the perfect canvas for the colorful selection of ready-to-wear, shoes, and accessories to stand out. A constant in all The Webster boutiques is the presence of a unique and personal art and sculpture collection, including what Laure calls her “good luck charms” featuring pieces from her husband, artist Aaron Young. On display in Palm Springs, you can find his pieces Jackie Boo, Auto Pilot, and Webster Pink.
