Whisking Belgium’s timeless waffles into today’s portable tasty celebrations, Chef Luna offers a number of flavors like maple bacon, lemon blueberry, salted caramel, and dark chocolate. He also offers seasonal and holiday offerings as well as custom orders. b. street Waffles’ mission according to Chef Luna is to prove that waffles are not just for breakfast, that they can be served for any celebration, and that the brand goes beyond your wildest dream of what a waffle can be and how you can enjoy it.
Chef Gerald Luna’s Background
Luna embarked on a European adventure following a fashion college education. However, it was not the world of haute couture that captured his heart; it was the realm of hospitality that he found he could not resist. That hospitality career began with a position at the prestigious 5-star Amsterdam Sonesta Hotel in the city’s heart. Starting as a Commis de Rang in their fine dining restaurant, he quickly proved he was a force to be reckoned with, so much so that The Amsterdam Marriott Hotel soon beckoned, where he wore several hats from Chef de Rang, showcasing his skills with California cuisine, to F&B Supervisor and Front Office Manager, where he honed his craft and garnered rich experiences in the world of hospitality.
After twelve years of honing his skills in Europe, Luna decided to return to the U.S. where he thought often of his extensive travels, including frequent visits to Belgium, which left an indelible impression. It was there that he first discovered the exquisite Liège Waffle. He was captivated by the sight of people leisurely walking around, savoring waffles in their hands. This experience planted a seed in his mind – the idea of bringing this concept back to the states.
Building b. Street Waffles
Armed with a waffle iron and a single cart, he ventured onto the streets of San Francisco. Serendipity struck when technology giant Salesforce discovered his delectable creations and invited him to cater their holiday party – b street Waffles was born! Becoming the go-to waffle brand for numerous tech giants out of his five hundred square foot apartment was a challenge and a dream, all at the same time.
Opening In Greater Palm Springs
Today, from Palm Springs, Luna continues to infuse his creativity and passion into every waffle, ensuring that each bite is an experience to remember. As he expands the brand’s presence, he remains committed to sharing his enthusiasm as a waffle entrepreneur saying, “The true value in building a small business is the community that comes with it. I have the happiest job in the world, creating one delectable waffle at a time.” Although Gerald is based in Palm Springs he caters all over SoCal.
