Classic rock giants Chicago and Styx will stop in the Coachella Valley this fall as part of their co-headlining “The Windy Cities Tour — All The Hits…Your Kind of Tour,” with a Sept. 2 date set for Acisure Arena in Palm Desert.
The tour kicked off July 13 in West Palm Beach, Florida, and will run through Sept. 6, when it wraps at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. Chicago will close out each show on the run.
The Palm Desert stop comes as Styx continues to tour behind its 18th studio album, “Circling From Above,” released May 28, 2025. The 13-track record explores themes at the intersection of technology and nature across a 41-minute runtime, and features contributions from all seven current members of the band, including founding guitarist James “JY” Young, guitarist Tommy Shaw, original bassist Chuck Panozzo, drummer Todd Sucherman, keyboardist Lawrence Gowan, guitarist Will Evankovich and bassist Terry Gowan.
The album was produced by Evankovich, who also produced the band’s two previous studio releases, 2017’s “The Mission” and 2021’s “Crash of the Crown,” before officially joining Styx as a member in 2022. Shaw, Evankovich and Gowan wrote all 13 songs on the new record together.
“Circling From Above” marks the third consecutive Styx album to draw “masterpiece” praise from critics, following “The Mission” and “Crash of the Crown.”
Beyond the music, Styx has continued its longstanding charitable tradition on the road. At each tour stop, the band partners with a local nonprofit through Rock To The Rescue, a 501(c)(3) organization the band founded that supports grassroots community organizations nationwide in the areas of music education, health and well-being, disaster relief, and animal welfare. Partner organizations help sell $10 raffle tickets for a chance to win a signed Styx guitar, with proceeds shared between the nonprofit and the cause. Rock To The Rescue traces its roots to 2001, when Tommy Shaw and REO Speedwagon’s Kevin Cronin organized benefit concerts that raised more than $775,000 for 9/11 victims and the New York Port Authority police department following the terrorist attacks.
