SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — The United States Postal Service will host two hiring events this month as it looks to fill Mail Processing Clerk and Mail Handler Assistant positions at regional processing facilities.
The events are scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 17, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the San Bernardino Processing & Distribution Center, 1900 W. Redlands Blvd., and the Moreno Valley Processing & Distribution Center, 23800 March Memorial Dr., Building 8.
Postal personnel will be on hand at both locations to share information about open positions, answer questions and guide candidates through the application process. USPS is encouraging registration ahead of time, with separate sign-up links available for each event.
The Postal Service said it is seeking candidates for two roles. Mail Handler Assistants, who earn $19.02 per hour, load, lift and carry mail from trucks and sorting equipment, separate outgoing bulk mail, operate machinery and perform tasks such as rewrapping damaged parcels and weighing mail.
PSE Mail Processing Clerks, who earn $21.44 per hour, sort incoming and outgoing mail using automated equipment, maintain sorting materials and equipment, assist customers with non-financial transactions at public windows, and handle lifting and prolonged standing.
Both positions involve processing mail using a mix of automated equipment and manual sorting methods. USPS also highlighted opportunities for veterans as part of its hiring push, describing the effort as part of a broader push to build a diverse workforce with training and advancement opportunities.
Employment with the Postal Service is contingent on candidates meeting medical suitability, general eligibility and background check requirements, according to the agency.

The Postal Service operates as a self-financing federal establishment, delivering mail and packages to more than 170 million addresses nationwide. It is currently pursuing a transformation plan aimed at improving service and restoring long-term financial sustainability.
