“Stronger Together: Music of Hope and Resilience” features Broadway star Adam Jacobs, more than 100 symphonic and jazz band instrumentalists, and members of two local choruses on November 22

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. — Palm Springs Desert Winds will launch its landmark 25th Anniversary Season on Sunday, November 22 at the McCallum Theatre with “Stronger Together: Music of Hope and Resilience,” an inspiring celebration of music, community and the continuing journey toward LGBTQ+ equality.

The milestone concert brings together the Palm Springs Desert Winds Symphonic and Jazz Bands with Broadway star Adam Jacobs, best known for originating the title role in Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway, along with members of Modern Men and the Palm Springs Gay Men’s Chorus.

Through music that is powerful, joyful and thought-provoking, Stronger Together will reflect on the progress made by the LGBTQ+ community while looking toward the future with optimism and resilience.

The ambitious program showcases the caliber and versatility of Palm Springs Desert Winds with works ranging from contemporary compositions to some of the most recognizable music in the symphonic band repertoire.

Among the evening’s highlights will be selections from Carl Orff’s monumental Carmina Burana and a dramatic brass-and-percussion rendition of Aaron Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man. The program also includes Rossano Galante’s Life Eternal; Brian Balmages’ Living Out Loud and Hope Ahead; and Omar Thomas’ A Mother of a Revolution.

Broadway favorites and popular music will also take center stage, including “I Am What I Am” from La Cage aux Folles, “Stronger” from Finding Neverland and Kelly Clarkson’s anthem “Stronger.”

The performance marks the beginning of a season celebrating 25 years of music-making, community and advocacy by Palm Springs Desert Winds. The vibrant musical organization includes an outstanding symphonic band, accomplished jazz band and smaller ensembles, bringing together more than 100 musicians—including many current and former professional musicians and music educators.
