(faded rainbow crosswalk on Arenas road to be removed in lieu of a new landmark design)

Palm Springs, CA

This Friday, the “well-worn” rainbow crosswalk at Arenas road will be removed as they did not adhere well to the existing stamped concrete underneath the paint. The time for removal is early in the morning at 6am.

While the process of removal is being done, sections of the intersection will be blocked off one at a time, but the street will remain open.

Who is requesting the removal you may ask?

The answer is it is the merchants on Arenas road themselves because of the faded look of the rainbow crosswalk.

Instead, plans are in the works to create a landmark design at the crosswalk unique to the Arenas District which is home to a large swath of LGBTQIA+ businesses.
