Palm Springs, CA

Palm Springs High School was placed on lockdown Wednesday morning after police received a report of a bomb threat against the campus, according to the Palm Springs Police Department.

Dispatch received the call from an unidentified person at approximately 11:29 a.m. on Sept. 9, prompting officers to respond immediately and place the school on precautionary lockdown, police said.

PSPD personnel, working with an explosives-detection canine team, conducted a thorough search of the campus. No suspicious devices or other evidence of an immediate threat were found, according to the department.

Once the search was complete, the lockdown was lifted. Police said all students and staff were safe and no injuries were reported.

Investigators are now working to identify the caller and determine the circumstances behind the threat. Because the investigation remains active, police said no further details are available at this time.

“The Palm Springs Police Department takes every threat involving a school seriously,” the department said in a statement, adding that it appreciated the cooperation of Palm Springs High School staff, students and families throughout the response.
